A Message from Roger Knight
“I am honoured to join the Spey Catchment Initiative as its first Chief Executive. The opportunity to step forward and formally lead SCI is a profound privilege, and I am eager to build on the progress we have made over the past 10 years. I look forward to further enhancing the incredible work delivered by the Spey Catchment Initiative team and our partners, improving our natural habitats for the benefit of wildlife and the communities that depend on them.”
Roger Knight’s Vision for the Spey Catchment Initiative
Roger’s vision for the Spey Catchment Initiative is driven by a commitment to sustainable development and ecological restoration. As Chief Executive, Roger aims to significantly enhance fundraising efforts by targeting financial support from the private sector, including local businesses such as whisky producers, as well as national and international organisations, particularly within the finance industry. By fostering strong partnerships with these entities, SCI seeks to secure the financial resources necessary to support large-scale conservation projects and ensure the long-term sustainability of the catchment area.
In addition to bolstering fundraising efforts, Roger is also committed to increasing the scope and scale of habitat restoration projects within the Spey catchment. With the dual threats of climate change and the biodiversity crisis looming, he recognises the urgent need to expand the size and number of restoration initiatives. By implementing larger and more ambitious projects, Roger aims to not only enhance biodiversity but also build resilience against climate-related challenges, ensuring the health and vitality of the river ecosystem for future generations.
Please join us in welcoming Roger Knight to the Spey Catchment Initiative. We are confident that his expertise and passion will drive us toward a future where the Spey catchment thrives for generations to come.
